Middle School New Teacher Meet & Greet

August 1, 2019

4:00pm – 6:00pm

We have three new teachers in middle school! They are:

Daniel Dixon is coming from Nairobi, Kenya! Mr. Dixon has been on the mission field teaching in an accredited mission school, Rift Valley Christian Academy, for quite a few years. Daniel has an undergraduate degree in Education Ministries from Houghton College and a Master’s degree in Religion from Evangelical Seminary. He is currently a student at Cairn University earning a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership. He will be teaching middle school math, boys’ PE, and health to the freshmen boys. We were introduced to Mr. Dixon by watching him via Skype teach a middle school math class to his students at Rift Valley. We are excited to have such an experienced teacher join our faculty.

Julie Easter is filling a new position since our middle school has grown so much. She will be teaching language arts to sixth and seventh grade students. Mrs. Easter has taught various grade levels including middle school in Christian and public schools. She has a bachelor’s degree in English and Elementary Education from Salem College. After several years of being away from this area she has moved back to Kernersville and is enthused to be back in the classroom at TBCA.

Angela Everett just moved buildings since she previously taught in TBCA’s preschool. Mrs. Everett has an undergraduate degree in Bible from Johnson University and a Master’s degree in Counseling, also from Johnson University. She was the first guidance counselor at First Christian School several years ago, but for the last few years has been a valuable faculty member in our preschool. Mrs. Everett has been working with Mrs. Jennifer Locklear this summer to strengthen the science program in the upper school.

We want to welcome all three teachers to TBCA. You will be able to meet Mr. Dixon and Mrs. Everett on Thursday, August 1, from 4-6pm in TBCA’s Media Center. Unfortunately, Mrs. Easter had a family commitment for that evening which could not be changed, but she is looking forward to meeting her students and their parents at Middle School Back to School Night on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

Please be praying for Mr. Dixon as he returns to the United States this weekend. He has already secured a place to live in the area, but we would like to help him with his transition back to the US. We will have a “pounding” for him, which is an old Appalachian tradition of providing common household items such as paper towels, cleaning supplies, or staple food products such as flour, sugar, etc. to newcomers. If you would like to welcome him to NC and especially TBCA, feel free to bring an item when you meet him on Thursday, August 1st. We will have a container outside the Media Center where you can put items. The faculty will also be contributing items which we will present to him during Teacher Work Week. Moving from so far away is always a challenge, and this is a way we can support him as he moves to NC.
